Violence and Institutional Neglect towards Migrants

Informe Frontera Nord

You can read the executive summary of the report here.

This report provides an in-depth look at three key areas linked to the Catalan borders: maritime arrivals in the Balearic Islands, the reception of children and young people without adult references in Barcelona, and migratory transit at the Catalan-French border. The research highlights how European and state-level migration policies, and their implementation at the regional and local levels, systematically generate situations of neglect and rights violations, particularly affecting groups with specific protection needs.

Using a mixed methodology based on direct observation, interviews, and data analysis, and from a decolonial, anti-racist, and feminist perspective, the report denounces institutional violence and neglect, documents shortcomings in the detection of vulnerabilities, and calls for effective mechanisms of transparency, oversight, and accountability.
